TV Cable Management
Choose an in-wall or surface-mounted approach, then plan power, signal cables and organization before you buy.
Safety first: Do not route ordinary extension cords or device power cords inside a wall. Use products specifically listed for their intended in-wall use, follow manufacturer instructions and local electrical requirements, and use a qualified electrician when new or relocated mains wiring is required. Check for hidden utilities before cutting or drilling.

- In-wall TV cable-management kit appropriate for the installation, or
- Paintable surface cable raceway for a no-wall-cutting approach
- Cable sleeve, reusable ties or clips for low-voltage cords
- Surge protector or power strip suited to the connected equipment

- Tape measure and pencil
- Level
- Stud finder
- Drill/driver and appropriate bits
- Drywall saw only when the selected in-wall system requires openings
Plan before you buy
- List every connection behind the TV: power, HDMI, Ethernet, antenna/coax, audio and any future devices.
- Choose between an in-wall system and a surface-mounted raceway based on the wall, access and whether you want to cut drywall.
- Check cable lengths, connector sizes and bend clearance at the TV, soundbar, console and other equipment.
- Keep mains-power solutions separate from low-voltage signal routing unless the selected listed system is specifically designed for that use.
- Leave enough slack for a tilting or full-motion TV mount to move without pulling on connectors.

- Raceway width and capacity for the number of cables
- Paintability and mounting method for surface raceways
- Cable-sleeve diameter, reusable closures and heat/airflow clearance
- Surge-protector outlet count, cord length and equipment compatibility
